Brockway is not your typical small town. Nestled in foothills of the Pennsylvania Appalachian Mountains in the southwest corner of the Pennsylvania Wilds, it is the perfect blend of nature, prosperity, business and diversity. Located just miles from Interstate 80, Brockway is centered between other great local communities like DuBois, Brookville, Ridgway, St. Marys, Punxsutawney and Clearfield.
Since 1822, when its original settlors made this their home along the banks of the Little Toby Creek, Brockway has been known as a great place to live. While logging and farming was its initial sources of employment in those days, Brockway became more known for its glass and powdered metal industries. In fact, the making of bottled glass products was such a successful industry in Brockway, that it is locally known as Glasstown, USA. From these industries came other successful businesses in healthcare, technology, engineering, food industries and other supporting trades.
But Brockway is not all business. Brockway is considered a trail hub for three local rails-to-trails: The Clarion-Little Toby Trail, The Five Bridges Trail and the Wolf Run Trail. In addition, Brockway is just a few miles from a variety of hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, hunting and so many other outdoor activities. Taylor Memorial Park and Frank Varischetti Field provide amazing playground and recreational opportunities for all ages. Still need some time in the city? Not a problem. Brockway is within 1-2 hours of Pittsburgh, State College, Erie and Altoona.
If you’re looking to raise a family, there is no better place than Brockway. The Brockway Area School District is tops in the area. Supported in part by the Brockway Schools Community and Education Foundation, the Brockway School District provides the best opportunities for children to excel at a variety of different extra circular activities, sports, clubs and other interests. Beyond High School Brockway is the home of the Brockway Campus of Butler Community College as well as the Brockway Center for Arts and Technology. In addition, Brockway is located within a short commute to Penn State DuBois, Triangle Tech, IUP Punxsutawney, Lock Haven Clearfield, Clarion University and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
The locals say “Once you’ve dipped your toes in Little Toby Creek, you’ll never leave.” If you’re looking for a place to call home, let one of our realtors show you what Brockway is all about. Maybe even dip in your toes!!
